Yakov Friedman

Yaakov Freidman was born in Tel Aviv on the 7th of Shvat, 5710. In 5715, he studied in the Mechina of the elementary school “Yesodei HaTorah” and from there moved to a Talmud Torah in Bnei Brak until 5723. From the Talmud Torah he made his way to the Yishuv HaChadash Yeshiva in Tel Aviv where he studied through 5728. He continued his studies at Beit HaTalmud in Yerushalayim through 5731. During this time he became involved in activities involving settlements on the northern border as well as in various educational institutions throughout the center of the country. In the summer of 5731 he joined Yeshivat Hakotel and went to basic training in the hesder framework. He joined the tank unit and served as a loader-signaler. Following his active army service he returned to the Yeshiva and took part in Chevrutot and shiurim at the Beit HaTalmud Yeshiva as well. He also continued his activities in Chever HaPeilim. He became engaged in the summer of 5733. He fell at the Suez Canal on the 23rd of Tishrei, 5734.
