Michael Sitbon

Michael z"l was born in France on the 12th of Iyar, 5738 (1988). A year later his family made aliyah to Ashdod. Upon completing his elementary school studies at the "Yahalom" school he continued his education at "Boys Town" in Jerusalem. After a year at "Boys Town" he transferred to the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva High School "Neve Herzog" in Nir Galim where he overcame his shy disposition and developed into a leader both academically and socially. As he placed utmost concern on the education of the younger generation, Michael z"l was concerned with creating a generation yearning for Torah studies and excelling in living a life of Torah values and characteristics. Following high school, Michael z"l joined Yeshivat Shaalavim. After winter session he transferred to Yeshivat Hakotel's hesder program where he was drafted to serve in the Givati brigade serving as a division paramedic. Together with his shiur, Michael z"l returned to studies at Yeshivat Hakotel in the winter of 5759 (1999), and immersed himself in his Torah studies with a desire to grow in both his learning and "midot". A year later he began a program offered through the Yeshiva and the Lipshitz Teachers College to fulfill his dream of educating the younger generation. In 5760 (2000), he married Michal.

At the start of the summer session of 5761(2001), Michael z"l joined the Yeshivat Hakotel kollel in order to receive rabbinic ordination and further grow in his Torah studies. Michal was a tremendous support for him during this time. In Kislev 5762 (2002) he went to serve for his first time in the army reserves, and on the tenth of Tevet fell in a battle with terrorists on the Jordanian border.

Michael z"l left behind family and many young students who are following in the way of the Torah as a result of the tremendous influence which he had over them.

May his memory be blessed
